WE ARE

The ZEF organization, Z Empowerment Foundation, was founded on July 16, 2020 (Asad 26, 1399) by Mrs. Zainab Mazari and a group of fellow intellectuals and social activists from different regions of Afghanistan and the globe.

Co-Founder & Board Monitoring, Evaluation Director

Sedigha Mobarez is a former Member of Parliament from Afghanistan. She is a graduate of
Political Science and International Relations. Sedigha has more than three and a half decades of
experience in cultural, political, and social fields. Most of her works has focused around women
and youth through different activities around areas like education, legislation, and social justice.

Advisor

Zainab Mazari is the advisor of the organization. She is also our main activists who connects local communities to our projects. She is passionate about helping people and eager to improve women equalty and rights.

Vivian Lin is the director of ZEF corporation. She has years of experience in the hospitality industry. She helps the communication between local communities and organizations. She is eager to put more effort into making a change in this world.

ZEF's Co-Founder & Advisor

Safar Hanif was the Executive Director of Cooperation Center for Afghanistan from Oct. 2013 to Jan. 2020. He has worked as an IT manager and computer specialist. He has experience of working with UNDP/UNOPS admin/finance system. He has received certificate of Paulo Freire’s Community Empowerment – Training for Transformation in 2012.

Mohammad Birooni has many years experience and activates for social equality. He has worked with Danish Municipality (Children and youth Department), Environment Department, Technical advisor World Bank (IMC in Ministry of Mines & Petroleum Afghanistan), Technical advisor AGS (Afghanistan Geological Survey). 

He has published several articles on Geological Politics: http://geologicalpolitics.blogspot.com/ 

and further published short story in Danish: Nyt land Nyt liv

Executive Director

Jay M. is the founder of ZEF non-profit corporation. He shows his great passion for developing and supporting the local community and human rights, especially women's rights and empowerment. He is inspired by the current situation in Afghanistan and he thrives to achieve justice and equity in the country.

Mohram Hussain Y.

Board of Directors & Monitoring, Evaluation Director

Mohram Hussain Yari has worked with public sector, non-profit organizations and international aid agencies over two decades from IOM, UNOPS to The Asia Foundation, National Democratic Institute, Overseas Strategic Consulting and Afghan Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Ministry of Education. During his experience, Mohram Hussain has been involved and contributed in different projects such as public institutional capacity building, political participation, women and children rights and strategic communications. He has earned his B.A. degree in English-Persian Translation from Iran and his Masters in Public Policy from Germany. Mohram Hussain is passionate about International development work and social justice.
